Make Green Margarita

The Green Margarita is a fresh, vibrant, and herb-forward evolution of the classic. It’s smooth, citrusy, and gets its stunning personality from real ingredients: zesty lime, bright orange, and a hint of fresh cilantro for a sophisticated, herby twist.

Ingredients

  • For the Margarita
  • 2 oz Silver Tequila: Provides a clean agave-forward base.
  • 1 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec: For that essential orange-liqueur sweetness and depth.
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice: Approximately one juicy lime.
  • ½ oz Fresh Orange Juice: Adds a natural mellow sweetness.
  • ½ oz Agave Syrup: The natural pairing for tequila. Simple syrup or honey works too!
  • Fresh Cilantro: A small handful of leaves to provide that signature "green" vibe.
  • ½ Jalapeño Optional: For those who want a spicy "fire alarm" finish.
  • For the Signature Rim
  • 1 tbsp Coarse Salt
  • ½ tsp Lime Zest
  • 1 Lime Wedge to moisten the glass

Instructions

  • Frame the Glass
  • Prepare your rimming station by mixing the salt and lime zest on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the edge of your glass and dip it into the salt mixture. Set it aside so it can dry slightly while you mix the drink.
  • Muddle the Greenery
  • Place the fresh cilantro leaves and jalapeño slices (if using) into your cocktail shaker. Use a muddler or a heavy spoon to gently press them. You aren't trying to pulverize them; you just want to release those aromatic oils.
  • Combine and Chill
  • Pour in the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, orange juice, and agave syrup. Fill the shaker with plenty of ice.
  • The 15-Second Shake
  • Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. This isn't just to cool the drink; it’s to emulsify the citrus and agave and "bruise" the cilantro into the liquid.
  • The Double Strain
  • Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over fresh ice.
  • Chef's Tip: Use a fine-mesh strainer if you want a crystal-clear drink without any small cilantro "bits."
  • Garnish
  • Finish with a lime wheel, an extra jalapeño slice, or a single beautiful cilantro leaf.
