Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves plus a sprig for garnish
  • 1/2 lime cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes preferably crushed
  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 cup soda water

Instructions

  • Muddle the Base: In a highball glass, combine your fresh mint leaves and sugar. Add a splash of lime juice.
  • Release the Aroma: Use a muddler to gently press the mint into the sugar and lime juice.
  • Build the Drink: Pour in the white rum. Stir briefly to help the sugar dissolve into the alcohol.
  • The Chill: Fill the glass to the brim with crushed ice.
