Ingredients

  • For the Grape Base:
  • 2-3 cups black grapes to yield approximately 1-2 cups puree
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt kala namak
  • 1/2 tablespoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • For Serving:
  • Ice cubes
  • 200 ml soda water per serving about 6.75 oz
  • Fresh lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Grape Puree:
  • Wash black grapes thoroughly and remove from stems
  • Add grapes to a blender
  • Blend until completely smooth and liquefied
  • (Optional) Strain through a fine-mesh strainer to remove pulp and skins for a smoother drink
  • Set aside the grape puree
  • Make the Spiced Grape Mixture:
  • Add powdered sugar to the grape puree
  • Add black salt, roasted cumin powder, and black pepper
  • Add fresh lemon juice
  • Mix everything thoroughly until sugar is dissolved and spices are well combined
  • Taste and adjust sweetness, salt, or lemon as needed
  • (Optional) Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to allow flavors to meld
  • Assemble the Drinks:
  • Fill serving glasses with ice cubes
  • Pour the spiced grape mixture into each glass, filling halfway
  • Top up each glass with soda water (about 200ml per serving)
  • Give a gentle stir to combine, being careful not to lose carbonation
  • Garnish and Serve:
  • Add fresh lemon wedges to each glass
  • Serve immediately while cold and fizzy
  • Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare the spiced grape mixture up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate. Add ice and soda just before serving for maximum freshness and fizz.
