Create the "Egg Nest"
Place a slice of white bread directly into your air fryer basket. There is no need to pre-toast! Take the back of a spoon and gently press down on the center of the bread to create a shallow well. This "nest" is what will hold your egg in place.
The Golden Drizzle
Brush or drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the surface of the bread, paying special attention to the edges. This step is crucial for achieving that deep golden-brown color and preventing the crust from drying out.
The Crack and Cover
Carefully crack your egg into the center well. Go slowly to ensure the yolk stays centered and the whites don't spill over. Once the egg is secure, sprinkle a generous handful of shredded mozzarella over the top.
Note: If some cheese lands on the crust or even drops onto the basket, don't worry—those crispy, burnt-cheese bits are often the best part!
The Precision Air Fry
Set your air fryer to 175°C (350°F).
For a Runny Yolk: Cook for exactly 7 minutes.
For a Set Yolk: Let it go for 9 to 10 minutes.
The Check: Start peaking at the 5-minute mark, as every air fryer model circulates heat a little differently.
The Finishing Touches
Once the cheese is bubbly and the bread is toasted, remove it carefully. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and a tiny pinch of salt. Serve it warm with a side of maple syrup or honey for a surprising sweet-savory combo.
